WordPress website redesign

Pittenweem Properties

Created a new WordPress website to showcase holiday rental properties in the East Neuk of Fife and integrate with Anytime Booking. I still actively manage this website.

Working with Gareth has undoubtedly had a significant impact on the growth and success of our business. Linking with him early on, he has created, maintained and developed every aspect of our website for several years now.

As well as being extremely responsive to any queries we have, he has great vision and pro-actively makes suggestions and improvements to ensure our online presence is constantly evolving whilst remaining engaging and user-friendly.

We have had countless compliments from clients and other businesses about our website and Gareth has also been extremely forthcoming in helping develop the IT skills of our team in a supportive way.

Our business is mainly built around being able to take bookings and showcase our properties online and quite simply without the time and expertise Gareth has put into this (and his aspirational organisational skills!) we most definitely would not have been able to grow our business to what it is today.

Our collaboration

This project began as a conversation in a primary school playground in 2015 while we were waiting for our children to emerge at the end of the school day. “I hear you build websites… we need a website.”

After a few meetings to discuss their requirements, this was formalised in a terms of reference document to outline the background, objectives, scope, constraints, assumptions, risks and deliverables of the project.

Directors Gillian and Kenny had plans to expand their business and had identified weaknesses in their online presence that they felt were risks to their expansion: there was a lack of clarity about what the business offered and to whom, the site was not mobile-friendly, and the site was too wordy with not enough well-optimised images.

Together we collaborated on a site structure mind map, and gathered requirements using Trello which provided transparency and improved communication.

The site was designed on a test server and pushed live within one month of project kick-off.

The site runs on WordPress using the Divi theme from Elegant Themes. Bookings are managed via Anytime Booking; integration was very straight-forward using code supplied by Anytime Booking and new custom Divi modules created using Divi Module Builder.

The business has since grown from managing a handful of properties to around 80. The site has grown accordingly, adding new features to help potential holiday makers find the holiday property of their dreams in the beautiful East Neuk of Fife, Scotland.

This site makes great use of the Divi theme filtered portfolio and Google maps, and has the biggest fat footer of any site that I’ve created.
