Ecommerce website rebuild for an independent cake business, improving online ordering and product presentation.
This project involved the stabilisation, redesign and delivery of a WordPress and WooCommerce ecommerce website for a small independent food business. The work focused on improving reliability, usability and visual consistency, while ensuring products, shipping and site management were fully set up to support day-to-day business operations.

Our collaboration
Victoria from Driven by Cake was referred to me by an existing client after experiencing difficulties with a recent ecommerce website redesign. The site was built on WordPress and WooCommerce, which meant I could step in quickly to assess the situation and address the most urgent issues.
The initial phase of the work focused on stabilising the existing website. I resolved several technical problems and fixed the WooCommerce shipping setup so that orders could be taken reliably without unexpected costs. This ensured the business could operate safely while we planned the next steps.
Once the site was functioning properly, Victoria and I spent time discussing what she wanted from the new website, with a clear emphasis on simplicity, usability and a design she felt comfortable with. We agreed to continue using WordPress and WooCommerce, rebuilding the site using the Divi theme to give full control over layout, styling and future updates.
As part of the rebuild, I photographed and edited all products, creating a consistent and professional visual style across the range of cakes and biscuits. I also completed the full product setup, including pricing, weights, dimensions and detailed descriptions with ingredients information, making the site easier to manage day to day.
Alongside the build, I ensured all required legal and policy pages were in place and carried out basic search engine optimisation to help the site get found. Finally, we extended the shipping options to include DHL Express as well as Royal Mail.
The project concluded with migrating the site to SiteGround hosting and launching a fully functional ecommerce website that Victoria and her husband could confidently use to run their business.
